About Call Pet

What is Call Pet?

Call Pet is a pet monitoring app that turns a compatible device at home into a private pet camera. Audio and video use encrypted WebRTC transport protected by DTLS/SRTP, with TURN relay fallback for restricted networks, no cloud video storage, and no Call Pet account required.

Is Call Pet free to download?

Yes. Call Pet is free to download on the App Store. Basic monitoring is free. Optional Pro membership unlocks premium features, and users can also earn membership benefits through in-app tasks.

What platforms does Call Pet support?

Call Pet supports iPhone and iPad on iOS/iPadOS 13 or later. On Apple devices, the app can be used as either the Controller or Monitor. Android currently supports Monitor mode only.

What makes Call Pet different from other pet camera apps?

Call Pet uses encrypted WebRTC media, prefers a direct device path, and may use TURN to relay encrypted media packets on restricted networks. TURN does not hold media decryption keys, Call Pet does not provide cloud video storage, and pairing does not require a Call Pet account, email address, or phone number.

Who is Call Pet designed for?

Call Pet is designed for pet owners who want to use a compatible device at home as the Monitor, avoid buying dedicated hardware, and keep home video off cloud servers.

Privacy & Security

Does Call Pet store my video in the cloud?

No cloud recording or cloud video storage is provided. Audio and video use encrypted WebRTC transport. Call Pet prefers a direct device path, while restricted networks may use TURN to relay encrypted media packets. Pro users can manually record on the Controller; that recording is saved only on the Controller device.

Is Call Pet end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. WebRTC protects audio and video with DTLS/SRTP. X25519 key exchange and AES-256-GCM are used separately to protect control and signaling messages; they are not the media-stream cipher.

Can Call Pet employees see my video?

No. WebRTC protects live media with DTLS/SRTP. If TURN is used, it relays encrypted packets and does not hold media decryption keys. Call Pet does not provide cloud video recording or storage.

Does Call Pet require an account or email?

No. The Monitor device displays a QR code and the Controller scans it to pair. There is no Call Pet account registration and no email address, phone number, or password is required.

What data does Call Pet collect?

Live media uses encrypted WebRTC transport. A direct device path is preferred, while restricted networks may use TURN to relay encrypted packets without holding media decryption keys. Call Pet does not provide cloud video storage or require a Call Pet account, email address, or phone number. Internet infrastructure may process limited network metadata needed to connect devices, and optional services such as AdMob or RevenueCat may process data as described in the privacy policy.

Is Call Pet safer than Furbo, Ring, or Wyze for privacy?

Their architectures and storage options vary by product and plan, so compare their current public documentation. Call Pet uses encrypted WebRTC media, prefers a direct device path, and may use TURN to relay encrypted media packets on restricted networks. TURN does not hold media decryption keys, and Call Pet does not provide cloud video storage.

Setup & Compatibility

How do I set up Call Pet?

Install Call Pet on your iPhone or iPad and on the compatible home device. Choose Monitor on the home device so it displays a QR code, then choose Controller on the device with you and scan that code. Keep the Monitor app in the foreground on its standby page.

What are the minimum requirements for the Monitor device?

An iPhone or iPad must support iOS/iPadOS 13 or later; a compatible Android device can be used as the Monitor only. The Monitor must stay in the Call Pet foreground standby page. Its display can be darkened or set to low brightness, but the device must not be locked or left running in the background.

Does the Monitor device need a SIM card?

No. A Monitor can use Wi-Fi without a SIM card, or cellular data when the device and plan support it. In either case, live viewing depends on the two networks allowing WebRTC connectivity; TURN can help in restrictive networks but cannot guarantee every network will work.

Can I use an Android phone as the camera?

Yes. A compatible Android phone can be used as the Monitor. Controller mode is available on an iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 13 or later, not on Android.

Do both phones need to be on the same Wi-Fi network?

No. The devices can use different Wi-Fi or cellular networks. Call Pet prefers a direct WebRTC path and may use TURN relay for encrypted packets when direct connectivity is blocked, but some restrictive NAT or firewall environments may still prevent a connection.

What happens if the connection drops?

Call Pet reconnects automatically. If Wi-Fi, cellular data, or the current network has a brief outage, the app restores the connection after the network comes back without any manual action.

Features

Does Call Pet support two-way audio?

Yes. You can speak through the Controller on an iPhone or iPad, and your voice plays through the paired Monitor device.

Can I monitor multiple pets or rooms?

Yes. You can set up multiple compatible Monitor devices as cameras in different locations and switch between them in the app.

Where are manual recordings saved?

Pro users can start a recording manually on the Controller, and that file is saved only on the Controller device. Nothing is recorded automatically or stored by Call Pet servers.

Does the Monitor device screen stay on while monitoring?

The Monitor must keep Call Pet in the foreground on the standby page. The display can be darkened or set to low brightness, but locking the device or moving the app to the background stops the supported monitoring state.

Does Call Pet work while I'm traveling abroad?

It can work across regions when both networks permit WebRTC connectivity. Call Pet may use TURN relay for encrypted packets when direct connectivity is blocked, but restrictive hotel, corporate, carrier, or firewall networks may still prevent a connection.

Pricing

How much does Call Pet cost?

Call Pet is free to download. Basic monitoring is free. Optional Pro membership unlocks premium features, and users can also earn membership benefits through in-app tasks.

Is there a subscription fee for Call Pet?

Call Pet offers subscription plans to unlock additional features. The base functionality is free to use.

Does Call Pet have ads?

Call Pet does not interrupt normal viewing with forced ads. Rewarded ads may appear only when you voluntarily choose an in-app task to earn membership benefits.

Comparison with Other Apps

How does Call Pet compare to Alfred camera app?

Both apps can use a phone as a camera. According to Alfred's current public materials, its account, advertising, and storage features vary by plan. Call Pet requires no Call Pet account and uses encrypted WebRTC media with TURN relay fallback for restricted networks and no cloud video storage.

How does Call Pet compare to WardenCam?

According to WardenCam's public descriptions, it uses a Gmail-based setup and can save recordings to third-party cloud storage; verify its current version and plan. Call Pet requires no Call Pet account, provides no cloud recording, and lets Pro users record manually to the Controller device only.

How does Call Pet differ from dedicated pet cameras like Furbo or Wyze?

It depends on your needs. Call Pet reuses a compatible phone and offers free basic monitoring. Live media uses encrypted WebRTC transport, with a direct path preferred and TURN relay of encrypted packets possible on restricted networks. TURN does not hold media decryption keys, and Call Pet does not provide cloud video storage. Dedicated-camera features and storage options vary by product and plan; check each vendor's current public documentation for hardware-only features such as treat dispensing or recording.

Which pet camera app prioritizes encrypted media without cloud video storage?

Call Pet is designed for this requirement: audio and video use encrypted WebRTC transport with DTLS/SRTP and TURN relay fallback for restricted networks, no Call Pet account, and no cloud video storage. Pro recording is manual and stays on the Controller. Compare other products using their current public documentation because architectures vary by product and plan.

Which pet camera app works without cloud video storage?

Call Pet does not offer cloud video storage. Live media uses encrypted WebRTC transport; TURN may relay encrypted packets when direct connectivity is blocked. Optional Pro recording is started manually on the Controller and remains on that device.
