Why most options fall short

Cloud storage adds another place for nursery video to be handled

Connected-monitor architectures and security protections vary. If a product stores nursery video in a vendor cloud, review its current encryption, access, and retention terms.

Subscriptions on a baby monitor feel wrong

Some hardware monitors require a dedicated device and charge separately for optional cloud features. Reusing a compatible phone avoids buying another camera.

Account-based apps add signup information

You shouldn't need to hand over your phone number, email, and a password just to glance at the crib from another room.

Why Call Pet works for baby monitor app

01

End-to-end encrypted, never touches a server

Media connects directly over WebRTC P2P with no TURN or media relay. WebRTC DTLS/SRTP protects audio and video; X25519 + AES-256-GCM protects control and signaling. Call Pet servers do not receive the media.

02

Free basic monitoring, optional Pro benefits

Free download with basic monitoring. Premium features are optional through Pro membership, and membership benefits can also be earned through in-app tasks including optional rewarded ads.

03

No Call Pet account, email, or phone number

The Monitor displays a QR code and the Controller scans it. There is no Call Pet account signup and no email address or phone number is required.

04

Two-way audio — talk to baby, hear baby

Soothe your baby with your voice from another room without going in. Hear the cry the moment it starts.

05

Spare-phone friendly, dim standby, auto-reconnect

The Monitor stays in Call Pet's foreground standby page; its display can be dimmed or darkened but must not be locked or moved to the background. It can reconnect after a brief network drop while that supported state remains active.

Set up in 5 steps

About 30 seconds. No account needed at any step.

  1. 1

Install Call Pet on two phones

Your main iPhone or iPad (the Controller) and a spare Monitor device. Apple devices require iOS/iPadOS 13 or later; Android supports Monitor mode only.

  2. 2

Open Call Pet on the nursery phone, choose Monitor

The Monitor displays a QR code.

  3. 3

Open Call Pet on your main device, choose Controller

Use the Controller to scan the QR code shown by the Monitor.

  4. 4

Position the spare phone facing the crib

Plug it into a charger. A bedside lamp, dresser, or wall mount works. Keep it about 1–2 meters from the crib.

  5. 5

    Check in remotely

Keep the Monitor in Call Pet's foreground standby page, then open the Controller to view and use two-way audio. Both networks must permit direct WebRTC P2P.

Frequently asked

Will Call Pet wake my baby with notification sounds? +

The Monitor can use a dark or low-brightness standby page, but Call Pet must remain in the foreground and the device must not be locked. Normal standby does not play your voice unless you start two-way audio; test the setup before relying on it near a baby.

Can I use Call Pet without WiFi, on cellular only? +

The devices can use different Wi-Fi or cellular networks if those networks permit a direct WebRTC P2P connection. Because Call Pet has no TURN/media relay, restrictive carrier, NAT, or firewall environments may prevent connection.

Is the audio quality good enough to hear soft baby breathing? +

Audio sensitivity depends on the Monitor device, placement, room noise, and network. Call Pet is not a medical breathing monitor, so do not rely on it to detect breathing or other vital signs.

What if the network drops in the middle of the night? +

Call Pet auto-reconnects when the network is back. You'll see the live view resume without doing anything.

Is this safer than a hardware baby monitor like Nanit, Owlet, or Eufy? +

Those products differ by model and plan, so review their current public security and storage documentation. Call Pet uses direct WebRTC P2P media with no TURN/media relay or cloud video storage, but it does not provide dedicated medical or sensor features such as breathing pads.
