Why most options fall short

Aging parents living alone — and you live in another city

You worry about falls, forgotten medication, or just whether they ate today. Calls don't always go through. WeChat video requires them to pick up.

Hardware elderly monitors are intrusive and expensive

Dedicated fall-detection cameras and medical alert systems require separate hardware and may include ongoing service fees. Some families also prefer a familiar phone form factor.

Cloud-connected cameras add vendor data handling

Camera architectures, access controls, and storage terms vary by vendor. For a parent's living space, review those terms and obtain their clear consent before setup.

Why Call Pet works for elderly monitor app

01

Two-way audio — talk to mom and dad without making them pick up a call

After agreeing together on when the camera will be used, you can open Call Pet and speak through the Monitor without requiring them to answer a call.

02

Direct, encrypted media between paired devices

Media connects directly over WebRTC P2P with no TURN or media relay. WebRTC DTLS/SRTP protects audio and video; X25519 + AES-256-GCM protects control and signaling. Call Pet servers do not receive the media.

03

Simple ongoing setup after pairing together

Set up the spare phone together during a visit, leave it plugged in, and keep Call Pet in the foreground standby page. If the phone restarts or the app closes, someone must reopen the Monitor.

04

Free basic monitoring, optional Pro membership

Free download with basic monitoring. Premium features are optional through Pro membership, or can be earned through in-app tasks.

05

Auto-reconnect — works even if their network is unstable

Call Pet can reconnect after a brief network interruption while the Monitor remains in the foreground standby page and a direct P2P path is available. A restart or closed app requires manual reopening.

Frequently asked

Does Call Pet detect falls automatically? +

No. Call Pet provides live video and two-way audio, not AI fall detection. For automated fall alerts, pair Call Pet with a wearable medical alert device.

Will my parents feel watched all the time? +

Agree clearly on why, when, and where you will check in. Use specific agreed times rather than continuous viewing, and aim only at the safety area they approved.

Can I let my siblings see the same camera? +

Currently each pairing is one viewer to one camera. For shared viewing across siblings, the simplest workaround is everyone uses the same Controller pairing one at a time.

What happens if the spare phone gets unplugged? +

Runtime depends on the device and battery condition. The Controller will lose the feed when the Monitor powers off. Agree on leaving it plugged in, and reopen Call Pet manually after a restart.

Can I use this if my parents don't have smartphones at all? +

They do not need their own phone account, but the Monitor device must remain powered, connected, and in Call Pet's foreground standby page. If it restarts or the app closes, someone at home must reopen it.
