Most landlords don't allow drilling
Hardware security cameras need wall mounting. That's a deposit-loss waiting to happen.
WiFi cams require contracts and cloud subscriptions
Hardware cams + cloud subscriptions add up to several hundred dollars a year for a setup you can't take when you move.
You don't trust the cloud with footage from inside your home
Renters often have roommates, sublets, complex situations. Cloud-stored video is one breach away from public.

Frequently asked
Will Call Pet work with shared apartment WiFi? +
Yes. The encryption means roommates on the same network cannot see the video stream even if they wanted to.
If a roommate finds the spare phone, can they see what I've been recording? +
Call Pet doesn't record footage anywhere — there's nothing on the phone to find. The Monitor phone shows a black screen by default.
Can I monitor from another country if I'm traveling? +
Yes. As long as both phones have internet, the encrypted view works globally.
What if my spare phone gets stolen? +
Since Call Pet doesn't store footage on the phone, the thief gets no video. They get a phone — and your monitoring stops until you replace it.
Is this legal as a security camera in a rental? +
Recording your own private space is generally legal in most jurisdictions. Pointing cameras at shared spaces or other tenants without consent is not. Check local laws.
