Why most options fall short

Commercial security systems are overkill for a small shop

DVRs, NVRs, and pro IP cameras require installation costs, ongoing fees, and a tech team. A solo café or salon owner doesn't need that complexity.

Cheap cloud cameras send your shop's video to a vendor server

If a low-cost brand has a security incident, your shop interior — and any customer captured on it — may be exposed.

Hardware cameras need network setup the shop owner often doesn't manage

Configuring port forwarding, NVR apps, and remote access is a real barrier. A spare phone with one app skips all that.

Why Call Pet works for small shop security camera

01

End-to-end encrypted — no third party sees your shop

WebRTC peer-to-peer with X25519 + AES-GCM. Stream never reaches a server. Important for shops that handle cash or customer info.

02

Free basic monitoring — no hardware cost eating into thin margins

Free download with basic monitoring. Pro features are optional if you need more.

03

Two-way audio — talk to your shop remotely

If you spot something on the live feed, you can talk through the spare phone speaker — useful for warning intruders or talking to a late staff member.

04

No installation — just plug in and prop the phone

No drilling, no wiring, no IT. Move it whenever you want.

05

Auto-reconnect — you don't have to re-set it after a power blip

After a brief outage, Call Pet reconnects on its own when the network and power return.

Frequently asked

Can I record video for evidence if there's a break-in? +

Call Pet is live-only by design — nothing is stored. For evidence-grade recording, pair with a hardware DVR or use a phone screen recorder on the viewer side. The privacy tradeoff is intentional.

Does it work in low light when the shop is closed? +

Phone cameras need some ambient light. Leave a low-power LED on at night, or position the phone near a window with streetlight.

Can multiple staff members watch the same shop camera? +

Each pairing is one Controller to one Monitor. For shared viewing, staff can take turns pairing with the same Monitor.

Is this enough security for a shop with cash or inventory? +

Call Pet is a remote viewing tool, not a deterrent system. For high-value shops, layer it with door alarms, locks, and possibly a hardware camera for recording. For a low-risk café or studio, Call Pet alone often covers the 'I just want to check on it' use case.

Does the spare phone make noise that would alert intruders? +

No — the Monitor side runs silently with screen off. Intruders likely won't notice it.
