Video call your dog or cat with Call Pet
Call Pet lets you video call your dog or cat using an iPhone, iPad or Android phone as the Controller and a compatible device at home as the Monitor. During a supported two-way video call, your pet can see and hear you. Two-way video requires Pro on the Controller; basic live monitoring is free.
How can I video call my dog when I am away?
First pair your iPhone, iPad or Android Controller with the home Monitor by scanning its QR code. Place the Monitor so its camera sees your pet and its screen faces the area where your pet usually stays. Keep the device stable and the charging cable out of reach.
When you are away, open the paired Monitor from the Controller to start a live session. With Pro on the Controller, use the two-way video feature to send your video to the home screen. You initiate the connection; your pet does not need to press a button. Test the setup while you are still at home.
Two-way video vs. two-way audio
Two-way audio lets you hear the home device and speak through its speaker. Two-way video also sends your camera picture back to that device, so your dog or cat has a screen to look at while you watch them.
Use an iPad as the home Monitor if you already have a compatible one and want a larger pet-facing display. A video call does not guarantee that a pet will watch the screen or respond to your voice.
Does anyone at home need to answer?
After the devices are paired, auto-answer lets the home Monitor connect without someone tapping Accept. Keep Call Pet open in the foreground, keep the device unlocked, and make sure it has power and internet access. The dark standby display can remain on; system lock or backgrounding the app is different.
The Controller and Monitor can use different Wi-Fi networks or cellular data, provided both networks allow the live connection. Test from the connection you will use outside home; a restricted work network may prevent a call.
Which devices and plan do I need?
Use a compatible iPhone, iPad or Android device for either role. Apple devices require iOS/iPadOS 15 or later; the full Android app requires Android 7.0 or later. Install the full app on the device you take with you, select Controller, and scan the home Monitor’s QR code. The earlier camera-only app is still available for existing users.
Two-way video requires Pro on the Controller and supported device/build capabilities. You can use free basic live monitoring before choosing Pro. Check the in-app feature and plan details for your installed version.
Questions and answers
Will my pet recognize me on the screen? +
Some pets pay attention to familiar faces or voices on screens and some do not. Call Pet provides the video and audio interaction, but individual pet behavior varies.
Is two-way video the same as the live monitoring view? +
They are related but different modes. Live monitoring lets the Controller watch the Monitor camera; supported two-way video adds the owner's video back to the pet-facing device during the call.
